Nordea AM chose new UK distribution director

Nordea AM chose new UK director for wholesale distribution. For that matter, Nordea decided to pitch a director from RBC Global.

Paul Malpas, who will move into a new position within the company, has been replaced as director of UK wholesale distribution by Jamie Hayes, who was hired by Nordea Asset Management.

Malpas will take on a new position increasing the group’s footprint in the Canadian market and promoting the company’s environmental credentials in Europe and beyond after spending more than ten years developing NAM’s wholesale business in the UK.

To ensure a smooth transition, Hayes and Malpas will collaborate closely in the coming weeks, the group said.

The group’s diversity and caliber of public and private market solutions, which will enable investors in navigating the difficult market conditions, thrill Hayes.

Hayes had worked with RBC Global Asset Management’s European distribution team in London for eight years before joining NAM. At RBC Wealth Management, he has also held positions as a fixed income strategist and fund analyst.

With the recent launches of its global climate engagement strategies fund and sustainable listed real assets, which the company claims have attracted “significant” interest from UK investors, Hayes will concentrate in his new position on enhancing Nordea’s foothold in the UK wholesale market.

The action is being taken as the asset manager seeks to increase its influence as a “preeminent” supplier of ESG solutions in the UK wholesale sector.

The company reports that NAM is seeing a lot of interest from UK wholesale investors in its recently introduced Sustainable Listed Real Assets and Global Climate Engagement strategies as well as its open-ended fund-of-funds offering for the private markets.
