The most expensive cars in the world  for 2022

According to a recent report, the number of ultra-wealthy people in the world declined somewhat in 2022, but the desire for luxury did not diminish for sure. The richest have always been excessive with their spending on luxury automobiles, among other things, due to their desire to be distinctive in their lifestyle and hedonism.

Based on intensive research on key automotive websites and other auto industry sources, we compiled our list of the ten most expensive automobiles in 2022. It comprises vehicles that the average person can only dream about driving, let alone buying. Beastly revved-up engines, the finest interior materials, and, of course, mind-boggling price tags are all part of the package.

It should be noted, however, that the prices stated here are for the automobiles when they were new. So we don’t include auction autos or overpriced secondhand deals.

10. Pagani Huayra Roadster BC

Pagani debuted the Huayra in February 2011 as a successor for the game-changing Zonda. The Huayra BC, named for Pagani’s first customer, the late Benny Caiola, followed. Then, the company revealed Huayra Roadster, a removable-top variant of the basic Huayra. Finally, in 2019, the world witnessed the Pagani Huayra Roadster BC, also known as the Huayra BC or just RBC. It is a roof-off variant of the “standard” BC.

It shares minimal aerodynamic components with the BC and features a modified version of the 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine with 802 PS (590 kW; 791 hp) and 1,050 Nm (774.5 lbft) of torque.

A road machine built with cutting-edge technology developed from Pagani Automobili’s track experience and in accordance with the DNA’s fundamental ideals. In other words, an intuitive and simple-to-drive car that you can grasp after only a few kilometers and that allows you to have a complete open – top experience without sacrificing performance.  9. Lamborghini Sian

Lamborghini Sian, which debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2019, is the first super sports vehicle with V12 engine and hybrid technology based on supercapacitors.

Its massive V12 engine, combined with electronic boost, results in an unequaled technical and technological marvel. Sián (lightning in Bolognese dialect) is a name that represents the car’s genuine nature, most notably its top speed of more than 220 mph (354 km/h).

Lamborghini built the Sián around innovative hybrid technology, offering the amazing emotion and dynamic performance of a natively aspirated supercar while addressing future electrification demands.

8. Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport

Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport was introduced in March 2020 in response to consumer requests for a sportier, more maneuverable Chiron. Because of the emphasis on acceleration and handling, gear ratios were lowered and downforce was enhanced, resulting in a peak speed of 218 mph (350 km/h). Only 60 were supposed to be manufactured. 

The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport is the brand’s vision of a lighter, more responsive hypercar with amazing straight-line performance, as well as a very appealing body and a limited production run to make it even more desirable. It has incredible acceleration and a spectacular peak speed, and the inside is gorgeous while remaining quite utilitarian for the purpose it was built to do.

7. Lamborghini Veneno

The Veneno, which is based on the Lamborghini Aventador, was created to commemorate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary. Lamborghini unveiled the model during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

Between 2014 and 2015, Lamborghini produced only 14 Venenos. Each one cost roughly $4.5 million, depending on the options, and was available in both convertible and coupe forms.

Under the hood, Lamborghini installed a more powerful version of the Aventador’s 6.5-liter V12, delivering 740 horsepower (552 kilowatts) and 509 pound-feet (609 Newton-meters) of torque, allowing it to sprint to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 2.9 seconds. It is currently the most expensive new Lamborghini ever built.

6. Bugatti Divo

5. Mercedes-Maybach Exelero

The Maybach Exelero is a one-off (wehicle that was manufactured only once) high-performance sports automobile created in partnership with DaimlerChrysler by Stola (now part of Blutec). It was presented in 2005 at Berlin’s Tempodrom.

Fulda, a German division of Goodyear, commissioned the Exelero to test their new Carat Exelero tire line. The Exelero is powered by Maybach’s  twin turbo V12 engine positioned at 60o. Each cylinder has three valves and a 9.2:1 compression ratio. At 5000 rpm, the engine generates 700 PS (690 horsepower; 515 kW) and 752 ftlb (1,020 Nm) of torque. It’s paired with a 5G-Tronic automatic gearbox. The Exelero has a peak speed of 351 km/h (218 mph) and an acceleration time of 4.4 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph).

After the Exelero accomplished its function, Maybach placed it up for sale, and it changed ownership several times over the years. It was originally purchased for $5,000,000 by diamond entrepreneur Andre Action Diakite Jackson, who rented it to Jay-Z for his “Lost One” music video.

It was later purchased for an undisclosed sum by European entrepreneur Arnaud Massartic and resold in 2011 for $8,000,000. This was the most viral interaction since the rapper Birdman stated that he would be the one to buy it, albeit it is unclear whether or not he did so. It is now believed to be in the possession of Frank Rickert, the founder of Mercedes-tuner, Benz’s Mechatronik.

4. Rolls-Royce Sweptail

The Sweptail is a one-off  model based on the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé that took four years to hand-build. The automobile found inspiration in coachbuilding from the 1920s and 1930s. The commissioner was superyacht and aircraft specialist in 2013.

Sweptail, the automotive counterpart of haute couture, draws inspiration by a special patron’s passion for his favorite early twentieth-century vehicles, as well as several vintage and modern boats. Rolls-Royce polished and constructed a motor car that, without a doubt, matches the marque’s DNA, with svelte tapering, a gracefully dropping waist-rail, a flowing roofline, and an unique sweeping tail.

It was the most expensive new car in the world at the time of its May 2017 introduction at the annual Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, costing roughly $13 million. The 453-horsepower luxury automobile has already been outpriced, but it remains a stunner. The current owner of Sweptail is Hong Kong resident Sam Li, the son of ultra – wealthy real estate developer Samuel Tak Lee.

3. Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta

Any Pagani Zonda is extremely uncommon. The Zonda HP Barchetta, a one-of-three project finished four years after the Zonda’s initial manufacturing run, is much rarer. The automobiles cost $15 million when they were new, but only two were available to the public. The third one, the company’s founder Horacio Pagani reserved for himself.

It has distinct exterior design characteristics that set it apart from other Zondas on the market. The most obvious features being the barchetta body shape and rear wheel covers inspired by Group C racing cars, making it the first Pagani to employ this styling. It also features a rear spoiler, air intakes, and rear lights from the 760 series. The 7.3 L (445 cu in) Mercedes-Benz V12 engine produces 800 PS (588 kW; 789 horsepower) and 850 Nm (627 lbft) of torque, making it the most powerful road legal Zonda ever built.

The most recent pricing for the HP Barchetta was roughly $18 million. It is the final and ultimate Zonda, which makes the fact that one Zonda HP Barchetta owner wrecked his in Zagreb, Croatia in early September 2022 all the more concerning. The collision happened during a Supercar Owner’s Circle event. Fortunately, there were no injured persons in the accident.

2. Bugatti La Voiture Noire

La Voiture Noire is a luxury GT supercar produced by the French automaker Bugatti. This unique  model, the company unveiled it at the 2019 Geneva International Motor Show. The foundation is Chiron and it pays homage to the Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic. The latter was produced in four copies. One of them, the black 57 Atlantic, Jean Bugatti’s personal vehicle, vanished between Molsheim and Bordeaux and was never found.

It was a special order by a buyer for 11 million euros minus taxes, making it one of the most expensive and fastest cars in the world. Reportedly, the model’s current price is around $19 million.

An 8-liter 16-cylinder W quad-turbo engine with 1,500 hp powers the car. Bugatti also uses this engine in the Chiron and Divo, allowing for a potential top speed of more than 400 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds, and acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h in 6.1 seconds.

La Voiture Noire is an homage to Bugatti’s heritage, a manifesto of the Bugatti style, and a work of automotive haute couture.

1.Rolls-Royce Boat Tail

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ Boat Tail is a mid-sized luxury coach-built grand tourer automobile. In 2018, BMW, RR ‘s parent corporation, registered the Boat Tail Concept trademark with the EU Intellectual Property Office. Rolls-Royce developed the automobile at the company’s Goodwood facility by its specialized coach build section. It was actually a reinterpretation of the 1910s Rolls-Royce Ltd Boat Tail car design. This one is extremely amazing since it incorporates parts from both a J-Class yacht and the original 1932 Boat Tail.

The chassis and engine are same as in the Rolls-Royce Phantom, but the car contains 1,813 custom elements, including five electronic control units in the rear deck. The first of three vehicles produced has a parasol that stretches from the back deck like a flower. A mechanical system releases the parasol. There are also rotating cocktail tables with matching stool seats, a complete set of Christofle dinnerware, and two fridges painted to match Armand de Brignac champagne bottles. The deck is coated in Caleidolegno veneer and swings in a butterfly form towards the center at a 67-degree angle.

The Rolls-Royce Boat Tail made its public premiere in late 2021 at Italy’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. It showcased the 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 engine capable of 563 horsepower. It is officially the most expensive new automobile in the world in 2022.
